Volunteer Week

Volunteer Week celebrates individuals who have gone above and beyond for their Community Halls, Leagues, Societies and Associations.  Volunteers who step up to serve on boards of the local nonprofits who can always be counted on to lend a hand at our community events or to volunteer to sit on committees to engage in local improvements.

Together, you are the powerful driving force behind the fundraising that builds our playgrounds and arenas and community halls.

You are Alberta volunteers and you are the reason that for seven days each April, we celebrate National Volunteer Week.

We are proud to support the efforts of Alberta volunteers with funding to nonprofits across the province and with programs to encourage new volunteers and to recognize the outstanding contributions of volunteers who have served their communities for years.

Volunteers like all of you here in our region.  That is why I hope that in celebration of National Volunteer Week, you will visit the Culture and Tourism website and nominate a volunteer who has made a difference in your life and in your community for a Stars of Alberta Volunteer Award.

Volunteers are truly the shining stars of communities across this province. Without them the social, cultural, and recreational programs and services that matter to all of us and many of the community facilities where they are housed would not be possible. Without volunteers, the festivals and events that bring our communities together and generate business for our local shops would not take place.

Without volunteers, Alberta just wouldn’t be Alberta.

To all our outstanding volunteers for all you have done and all that you do for making a difference in the lives of us all - THANK YOU.
