Grants within the Community

One of the distinct pleasures of my position as MLA for Stony Plain is the opportunity to deliver grant cheques to non-profit organizations who serve our communitites. The most recent round of funding represents successful applicants who applied in the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2016. Funding is provided by the Community Facility Enhancement Program and Community Initiatives Program through Alberta Culture and Tourism.

Through these presentations, I get to meet the volunteers involved, experience their passion, see the project, learn about the impact on the community and carry their messages and goals forward.

This round of grants included funding for the following projects:

Forest Green Parent Council: A new playground for Forest Green School

Smithfield Community Hall Society: A new septic system for the Smithfield Hall

Blueberry Community League: A new roof for the Blueberry Hall

Alberta Parenting for the Future Association: A new kitchen for the Family Connection Centre

Graminia Community School Foundation: Communication monitors for the school

The Parkland Potters Guild: New pottery wheels

MOMS Canada: Funding for programs supporting single mothers

Stony Plain Cowboy Gathering Society: Funding for the 2017 Music & Art Gathering

The Carvel Ukrainian Cultural Society: Funding for facility improvements.

I am pleased to support community organizations and my office has resources available for those looking for where to start or some assistance with the application process.
