Erin's Corner: September 2016

Wabamun Seniors' Day, Opening of Constable Chelsea Robinson Park, Flavours of Fall

My month began with a pretty hectic schedule, other than getting the children off to their first day of school, I was delighted to bring greetings from the Government and speak with the Parkland School Division teachers and staff, to recognize their continued efforts on making Parkland one of the most outstanding School Divisions in the Province.

I also had the opportunity this month to sit on the Interview Panel for ‘The Energy Efficiency Alberta Board” and for the better part of two weeks interviewed the most amazing candidates from across the Province. Our government wants to ensure that our province’s diversity is reflected on the agencies, boards and commissions which make decisions on behalf of all Albertans. Alberta is diverse and filled with capable people from all corners of the province, and needs your voice to be successful. Thank you to all the candidates that applied for this board.

Hubble Lake Stewardship reached out by offering up a tour by local residents. It is important to remind everyone how beautiful and precious our lakes and rivers are, and to urge us to continue to take care of them. Speaking of beautiful lakes, Wabamun FCSS held their Seniors Day on September 21. It is always wonderful to speak and engage in conversation with our seniors, and this day was no exception.

On September 17th, I spoke at the first annual ‘Flavors of Fall’, a Tri-Region Food Festival, in support of St. Michaels Health Group. This fundraiser will help renew and restore the outdoor living spaces for Grove Manor, to enhance their living experience.

September 24th, I attended the opening of the Constable Chelsey Robinson Park, in Parkland County. Constable Robinson lost her life in the line of duty, tragically in an accident while on patrol protecting our community. It was commendable of Parkland County to name this park in her honour, so that we are always reminded of those who serve and protect us each and every day.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce my new office staff, now that we are over the summer months. This past June, I hired a new Constituency Assistant/Office manager, Sheila Aitken. Serving as a Municipal Councilor for the Town of Devon for 6 years and 2 years with the Edmonton Ellerslie Constituency office.   Sheila was also employed by the Town of Devon in Administration, and Leduc City in the Engineering department, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our office. I would also like to welcome Stephanie aboard. Stephanie brings experience in marketing and advertising, communications and well versed in Social Media. If you have an event coming up, Stephanie will be happy to post on FB.
