Erin's Corner: June 2018
With the recent heat waves in June summer has officially arrived! Another school year has ended and those of us with children still at home appreciate the wonderful camps and activities available in our community to keep them busy and active through the summer.
During the last week of session, I was excited to introduce the Acheson Business Association at the legislature and deliver a member’s statement to highlight the biggest business park in Alberta, and to put them in the spotlight for their community involvement.
On June 2, I was delighted to serve pancakes with Mayor Choy and friends at the Mayor’s Pancake Breakfast to open the Farmers Day celebration in Stony Plain. Then I was off to the parade, one of my favourite celebrations of the year. Later that day, I headed for the rodeo and my children enjoyed the midway.
On June 23, I took part in the Dragonfly Festival in Wabumun. The parade was part of 3 days of celebrations including the TransAlta Fireworks & BBQ, the Wabamun Art Walk, lots of music, baseball and time together as a community.
Unfortunately I was not able to attend a few very important events in our constituency such as Aboriginal Day on June 22 in Stony Plain. Many people have expressed their appreciation for the quality of the event and experience.
On June 21, my staff attended The Alberta Century Farm and Ranch Award dinner held in Nisku at the Rig Hand Distillery. Three families in our area were recognized for their hard work in achieving this milestone. The Borynec Family from Carvel, the Trautman Family from Spruce Grove and the Wild Family from Acheson. Congratulations!
